Regcity Terms and Conditions
Regcity — core of privacy and protectionThese Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of regcity (regcity.net), including the website, the client area, the API and every domain service you order from us ("Services"). By creating an account or placing an order you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. The Services
regcity is a domain name reseller. We let you search, register, renew, transfer and manage domain names. We work with several ICANN-accredited registrars and choose which one registers each domain, depending on the extension and availability. The registrar that sponsors a particular domain (the "Registrar") registers it with the registry that operates its extension (the "Registry"). The Registrar for your domain is shown in its public WHOIS/RDAP record, and support will tell you on request.
By registering, renewing or transferring a domain through us you also agree to:
- the domain registration agreement of the Registrar that sponsors the domain, which support will provide on request;
- the policies of the Registry for that extension, including any eligibility or local-presence requirements;
- ICANN policies that apply to domain holders, including the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) and the Registrants' Benefits and Responsibilities.
If these Terms conflict with the Registrar's or Registry's rules for a domain, their rules prevail for that domain.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement.
- Keep your account details and domain contact details complete, accurate and up to date. The Registrar and Registries require this. Inaccurate or unverified contact details can lead to a failed registration, suspension or loss of the domain.
- You may be asked to confirm your email address or contact details. Domains can be suspended by the Registrar until this is done.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account and your API key. Keep your password and API key secret, and generate a new key immediately if it may have leaked.
- One person or organisation may hold several accounts only if each is used in good faith.
3. Domain registration
- A domain is not yours until the registration is completed by the Registrar. An availability check or a search result is not a reservation. If a domain is taken or rejected by the Registry after you have paid, the amount is credited to your account balance automatically.
- Some extensions have extra requirements (for example, a contact in a certain country or region). You must meet them; we may refuse or cancel an order that does not.
- The registrant you enter is the legal holder of the domain.
- Every domain is registered with the Registrar's privacy service where the Registry allows it, at no extra charge. Some Registries do not permit privacy, and the Registrar may disclose your data where the law, a Registry or ICANN policy requires it.
- Premium domains (priced by the Registry above the standard price) are not sold through regcity.
4. Prices and payment
- Prices are shown in the client area and on the price list before you order. The registration price may be a first-year promotional price; the renewal price is shown next to it.
- We may change prices at any time. A change does not affect orders that have already been paid.
- All Services are prepaid. You pay invoices with the payment methods offered in the client area (currently cryptocurrency) or from your account balance.
- When you add funds, the amount credited is the amount received after the payment processor has confirmed the payment. You bear any network or processor fees on your side.
- Orders placed in one step (including bulk and API orders) may be combined into one invoice. If your balance covers it, the invoice is paid from the balance automatically.
- If an obvious pricing error is found, we may cancel the affected order and return what you paid to your balance.
5. Renewal and expiry
- You are responsible for renewing your domains before they expire. We send renewal invoices and reminders to your account email, but a missed reminder does not extend a domain.
- A renewal is only complete once its invoice is paid and the Registrar has processed it.
- After expiry a domain may stop working, enter a grace or redemption period, or be deleted and become available to others. Restoring an expired domain may be impossible or may carry an additional fee set by the Registry.
6. Transfers
- Incoming transfers require a valid authorisation code and an unlocked domain, and are subject to Registry rules (for example, no transfer within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer). A transfer usually adds one year to the registration.
- Transfer fees are not refunded automatically if a transfer fails or is cancelled; contact support and we will review the case.
- You may transfer a domain away at any time, subject to the same Registry rules. We will provide the authorisation code on request through the client area.
7. Refunds
- Domain registrations, renewals and completed transfers cannot be refunded: the fees are paid to the Registrar and Registry immediately and are not returned to us.
- Paid registrations that fail are credited to your account balance automatically.
- You may ask for your unused account balance to be refunded by opening a support ticket. Refunds are paid in cryptocurrency, less network fees, to an address you control. We may ask you to verify that you own the account before paying.
- We may refuse a refund where we suspect fraud or abuse of the Services.
8. Acceptable use
You must not use the Services or any domain registered through us for:
- anything illegal in your country or in ours;
- phishing, fraud, malware, botnets or other harmful activity;
- spam or unsolicited bulk messages;
- child sexual abuse material;
- infringing trademarks, copyrights or other rights of others;
- registering domains in bad faith, including cybersquatting;
- interfering with the Services, other customers or our infrastructure, including excessive automated requests.
Report abuse to abuse@regcity.net. We may suspend, lock or delete a domain or an account, without refund, when required by the Registrar, a Registry, ICANN, a court or law enforcement, or when we reasonably believe these rules are being broken.
9. API
The API gives you the same access as the client area. Orders placed through the API are binding and are paid in the same way. We may limit the rate of requests, and may change or withdraw API methods; we will try to give notice of breaking changes in the knowledge base.
10. Availability and liability
- We provide the Services "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, and we depend on the Registrar and Registries, whose outages are outside our control.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost business, or for losses caused by the Registrar, a Registry, a payment processor, or inaccurate information you gave us.
- Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the affected Service in the 12 months before the claim.
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting support. Active domains remain registered until they expire unless you transfer them away first. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, has unpaid invoices, or is used for abuse.
12. Disputes
If you have a problem with the Services, contact support first; most issues can be solved there. Disputes about who has the right to a domain name are handled under the UDRP or the Registry's own dispute policy, not by regcity.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Material changes will be announced in the client area or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept it.
14. Contact
- Support: open a ticket in the client area or email support@regcity.net
